Kristen Stewart for ‘Martyrs’ re-make?
While at this weekend’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse junket, FearNET’s Jen Yamato interviewed Twilight series producer Wyck Godfrey, and he revealed that he’d like to work with Kristen Stewart once again . . . in aMartyrs remake.
“I would love for Kristen to do it,” he said. “I think it’s not remake-able in its form for an American audience. But the core elements of it are fascinating. I love the cult and what it’s about, and I’m also obsessed with the nature of childhood friends — growing up when one doesn’t believe the other one and the corruption between that. I’m excited,” he continued about the project.
Head over to FearNET to hear the rest of Wyck Godfrey’s words on the subject.
In the meantime, is this a project you’d like to see Kristen Stewart delve into? Why or why not?
At least one writer (at Film School Rejects) has put forth his objections to the idea of the re-make, not necessarily Kristen Stewart’s potential involvement in it, saying:
It seems to me that if a movie can’t be remade “in its form” and you acknowledge that, then maybe you shouldn’t try to dumb it down. If you need to change its form, message, or content to such a degree then maybe it should be left untouched. Every bit of Martyrs is necessary for the point it’s trying to make, every scream of pain, every plot turn, every sadistic cut. If you change that, you’re making a different movie.
