“The Stephenie Meyer Story”: yet another graphic novel in Twi-land
It’s graphic novel Christmas in Twi-land this spring, with Stephenie Meyer herself as the subject of the most recent bio. In May, three separate graphic novels published by Bluewater Productions were either released or announced (“Fame: Robert Pattinson”, “Fame: Kristen Stewart”, and “Fame: Taylor Lautner”). On June 8th, the Stephenie Meyer biopic will be the fourth.
Named “Twilight Unbound: The Stephenie Meyer Story Graphic Novel”, the hardcover volume representing Meyer will be distinct. Unlike the bios of the principal Twilights stars (which are paperback, feature roughly 30 pages each, and retail for $3.99), Meyer’s will be hardcover with 51 pages and cost more than three times that price.
Though some fans have dismissed recent releases by Meyer as her last ditch attempts to ride the Twilight gravy train, Amazon.com popularity rankings indicate some demand for recent and upcoming Twilight wares. As of the writing of this article, the popularity ranking for both the Robert Pattinson and Stephenie Meyer graphic novels is just below 20,000. The Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner novels are ranked below 50,000 and 90,000, respectively.
And, “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner”, despite being made available online for free tomorrow is currently ranked as the #2 bestseller on Amazon.com. Maybe fans who think Twilight is fading to black should rethink their positions. These are great results for a book franchise that is nearly five years old.
